Mordor's Battlefield

View from Whakapapa Ski field, Tongariro National Park, New Zealand. This area was used extensively for filming on the Lord of the Rings movies, in particular Frodo, Sam and Gollum's journey through the Emyn Muil and through Mordor, and the epic battle at the beginning of the first movie.

The location can be accessed easily via Whakapapa Ski Field Rd, it's just above the parking place at the head of it. The area at the bottom of the ski lifts, which you see in this photo, was the battlefield that appears in the very beginning of the first movie.

Den Drehort kann man über Whakapapa Ski Field Road erreichen, das Gelände befindet sich am Fuss der Skilifts, einen kurzen Fussmarsch vom Parkplatz am Ende der Zugangsstrasse. Dies Photo zeigt das Schlachtfeld vom Anfang des ersten Films.
